Alder Commons is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community learning center in NE Portland where people of all ages can take classes and workshops, and spend their time freely. The educational model is rooted in self-directed education; all learning opportunities are optional and based on each person’s own interests.

The Board of Directors works alongside the Staff and the Organizing Team to support the organization. We are currently seeking Board Members who have extra time to devote to the organization, as we have fairly lean staff. We’re looking for support especially in the following areas:
- Business Strategy & Finance
- Marketing
- Fundraising
- Operations
We want to ensure that the Board reflects the diversity of NE Portland, and encourage BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, differently-abled, and/or low income applicants!
