Note: If you are an Alder Commons Member, you can use your online account to reserve a space for an event.
We are sometimes able to support community members with events that they’re interested in hosting at Alder Commons. Due to our child safety policy, these events need to be scheduled on weekdays after 5pm, or on the weekend. We ask for a minimum of one month in advance for scheduling.
Our Facilities
Alder Commons is based out of a building at the corner of NE 42nd and NE Prescott St. where we’re lucky to have a variety of different spaces available to rent. Our rental spaces and their capacities*:
- Parking lot: 150
- Backyard: 100
- Lounge: 30
- Playroom: 20
- Kitchen: 7
- Coworking: 20
- Meeting Room: 6
*capacities are subject to change due to public health considerations. See our COVID Policy for more info.
If your event has open registration and will impact our Members’ use of the space, we may ask that some spots be made available for Alder Commons Members. Depending on the type of event, we may ask that your participants sign a Liability Waiver.
Philosophical Alignment
All events hosted at Alder Commons need to fit within the framework of our Core Values and cannot be in support of a specific political candidate or for events that are religious in nature. Some of the examples of events that we have hosted in the past include:
- Outdoor pop-up markets
- Fundraisers for local mission-aligned nonprofits
- Documentary screenings
- Public health trainings
- Vaccine clinics
- Birthday parties
- Repair events
Equipment
Included in the space rental fee is use of event equipment such as folding tables and chairs, pop-up tents, projector & screen, PA system, whiteboards, etc. Just let us know what supplies you might be looking for, and we’ll let you know if we have them. We ask that you assist the AC Staff to put away tables and chairs after the event, if you’re able.
Sliding Scale Payment
Hosting events at Alder Commons is included in the price of Membership. For those interested in hosting an event here who are not Members, we ask for a sliding scale fee between $100-$2,000, depending on the type of space you’ll be reserving, duration of use, impact on Staff, and your ability to pay. If for example, you will be needing the parking lot for an all-day event that requires Staff support, we will be asking for a higher minimum. We will work with you to find an amount that works for you and us.
We accept payment via credit/debit cards, cash, or check. Payments are usually due two weeks in advance of the event. If your event must be canceled due to circumstances beyond your control, we may be able to issue you a refund.
COVID Policy
Your event and its participants must follow our COVID Policy. Masks are currently still required inside of the building, and all eating needs to take place outside. As the event host, we ask that you remind event participants of this policy.
